Nikka from the Barrel is a Japanese double matured blended whisky from Nikka Whisky. The Nikka distillery, located in Yoichi/Hokkaido, was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who ensured that whisky became not only known in Japan but also enjoyed great popularity. In 1969, the second distillery named Miyagikyo followed. Nikka from The Barrel has won countless awards, including the World Whisky Award in 2007 and 2010 and the ISC Gold in 2012. Additionally, the whisky was the winner of the World Whiskies Design Awards 2013 as Best Blended Whisky and the World Whiskies Awards 2014 in the category 'Best Japanese Blended No Age Statement'.
Nikka from the Barrel has a reddish-brown color. It matures in old bourbon and sherry casks and has an alcohol content of 51.4%. Its aroma is very spicy and fruity, smelling of fresh oranges and light peat smoke. The taste is sweet and slightly oily. Oak wood, honey, and a mild spice combine to create a wonderful tasting experience that concludes with a long finish of fine vanilla and oak notes.
