The mash for the Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon consists of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. The comparatively higher rye content provides a stronger and spicier flavor. Unlike most other American whiskeys, the Woodford Reserve is distilled using the Pot Still method. However, contrary to the Scottish model, it is even triple distilled. This results in a particularly pure and smooth bourbon. The distillate then ages for at least 6 years in brand new, charred oak barrels to become this special whiskey.
