Tomintoul Peaty Tang (miniature)

Aroma: Herbal smokiness with light floral perfume notes.

Taste: Light peatiness with malty nut aromas.

Finish: Lingering smokiness with sweet peat.

The Tomintoul Peaty Tang is a lightly peated whisky from Speyside. A gently smoky whisky that captures the traditional flavor of the Speyside region quite well. The aroma offers peat smoke, barley, and rich oak tones. The aroma is very clear and present. There are also notes of vanilla and a hint of nuts. The taste does not linger long, and the finish is short and clean.

The Tomintoul distillery was founded in 1964. In the summer of the following year, the first New Make flowed from the stills. Tomintoul is the highest village in the Scottish Highlands, located about 80 km southeast of Inverness, in Moray. The name of the village is Gaelic and means 'hill of the barn'.

The stillhouse of Tomintoul houses two wash stills and two spirit stills, which are heated with steam. For fermentation, there are four small and four large washbacks made of stainless steel. For the maturation of the New Make, both refill sherry butts and former bourbon casks are used. The water comes from the Ballantuan spring, which also gave its name to the brand Old Ballantruan - a heavily peated Speyside single malt from the Tomintoul distillery.

Tomintoul (Speyside)

Tomintoul distilerija yra šalia miško, visai netoli Avon upės. Pavadinimas reiškia „kalnas su kluonais“ ir tariamas „Tomintúl“. Tomintoul yra klasikinis Speyside viskis. Lengvas, gėlių, žolės ir vaisių aromatas. Kai kurie autoriai netgi priskiria šiam viskiui lengviausią aromatą Speyside regione. 

Distilerija turi keturias distiliavimo kolonas, kurios per metus gali pagaminti iki 3,2 mln. litrų alkoholio. Vanduo, naudojamas viskio gamybai Tomintoul, gaunamas ne iš Avon upės, o iš netoliese esančio Ballantruan šaltinio.
