Elsburn Wayfare Batch 003

Aroma: A rich fruitcake with finely baked raisins defines the first impression. The strong cask strength is, of course, noticeable, albeit subtly. Then, the notes of winter desserts strengthen: sweet berries, speculoos, and light caramel cream gradually spread. At the very end, moderate oak spice and, for the particularly patient, a very subtle hint of salt and fine pecan nut follow.

Taste: The taste begins robust, yet accessible and smoother than expected. Notes of raisin cookies with meringue and sweet grapes dominate the beginning, while fine candied fruits gradually strengthen. Only in the second round do subtle oak aromas, light chocolate, and a quite gripping (spicy) character appear. Almost at the very end, fine vanilla and crunchy notes of caramel bloom.

Finish: The complex flavor lingers medium-long and still radiates its charming character with chocolate and oak tones even after a few minutes.

This is how whisky is made

The whisky was made from malted barley. Beautifully robust flavor notes come to the fore here and unfold their full potential at 58.2% ABV.

No caramel coloring was added. The rich color came entirely naturally. It was bottled in 2023.

There are at least 3840 bottles of this release. However, with an Elsburn, it is not guaranteed that it will last forever.

This single malt whisky is worth enjoying neat. However, you can also dilute your whisky with a little water. In such experiments, you may discover one or another new note.
