Aroma: At first sweet, fruity, and mildly spicy, later malty with caramel, vanilla, and a hint of toffee. Fine, slightly oily raisin notes and a touch of baked cookie dough elegantly complete the aromatic profile.

Taste: The taste begins mild and very balanced with notes of raisins in fruitcake. Shortly after, a complex blend of fine vanilla-caramel sweetness, dense toffee, and mild-sweet oak develops in a slow crescendo.

Finish: The tasting experience is rounded off by a very light hint of sweet smoke and the subtle, Elsburn-typical mandarin note.

Even whisky beginners and lovers of silky smooth whiskies will be convinced by Elsburn The Journey. This lovingly crafted single malt has matured in a fascinating combination of selected casks. Oak casks that previously held liqueurs or strong wines such as sherry, port, madeira, marsala, malaga, and Grand Cru Bordeaux were used for the aging of this outstanding whisky. Therefore, you will find wonderfully fruity aromas of raisins and plums, as well as sweet notes of caramel and toffee on the nose. These impressions are complemented by cookie dough and coffee notes, which elegantly continue on the palate. A very subtle smoke appears in the finish, derived from the small proportion of 5% smoked barley malt over wood.
