The Talisker 10 Year Single Malt is a maritime smoky whisky and a true value-for-money winner in its segment. 'King of drinks' - whisky with a long tradition

The MacAskill brothers founded a distillery in 1831 in the small village of Carbost on Loch Harport, which stretches like a fjord several kilometers from the west coast into the interior of the island. The whisky from this distillery soon became so famous that even Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of the famous novel 'Treasure Island', referred to it as the 'King of drinks'. The distillery changed owners several times and eventually, like many other distilleries, came into the possession of Diageo.

Multiple award-winning

Time and again, the Talisker 10 Year has been able to prove its quality and good taste at international competitions. It won Bronze in the Best Single Malt Islands category at the World Whisky Awards in both 2011 and 2014. The International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) awarded the Talisker 10 Year as the best Single Malt Scotch Whisky in 2002 and from 2007 to 2009, the IWSC also awarded it Gold! At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, it was awarded Gold in 2015, 2005, and 2006, and even Double Gold in 2009. This shows the consistent quality that the Talisker 10 has maintained over the years and that it is popular not only among fans of the distillery but also among whisky connoisseurs.

Already know Talisker 10 Year? Exciting alternatives

If you have already tasted the Talisker 10 Year and found it good, you might also be interested in the Talisker Distillers Edition. Here, the aging time is similarly long, but due to the finishing in former Amoroso sherry casks, a special fruit component is added to the Talisker pepper note. The Talisker Port Ruighe has fewer tannins but more berry fruit notes and is also highly recommended. If you want something smoky but do not like the distinctive pepper note of Talisker, you should look at the distilleries on the neighboring island of Islay. Especially the Lagavulin 16 Year is an intense smoker that can impress with its full and soft taste. If you want it even smokier and wilder, go for the Laphroaig 10 Year.
