Hibiki Japanese Harmony

Aroma: Hints of rose aroma as well as soft, fruity lychees, followed by a touch of rosemary, strong wood notes, and sandalwood.

Taste: A slightly sweet honey nuance on the tongue, followed by notes of candied orange peels and white chocolate.

Finish: Subtle, soft finish, with a hint of cinnamon from Mizunara (Japanese water oak).

The Suntory Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blended whisky from the Far East. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from the Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries. The whisky is presented in the classic Hibiki bottle with 24 facets. Each facet represents one of the 24 Japanese seasons.

Ex-Bourbon, Ex-Sherry, and Ex-Mizunara

The Japanese Harmony blended whisky is composed by master blender Shinji Fukuyo from the same main components of malt and grain whiskies as in previous releases. The base consists of whiskies from American white oak barrels. Additionally, Japanese whiskies that have previously matured in sherry casks are used, giving the whisky a fine fruitiness. The final touch is given by whisky that has matured in barrels made from the rare Japanese water oak - Mizunara, which only grows in northern Japan and takes up to 300 years to reach maturity.

Malt and Grain in Duet

Another facet is added to the Hibiki from a small portion of lightly peated malt whiskies, which provide additional depth and complexity to this Japanese whisky. Grain whiskies from the Chita distillery of the manufacturer Suntory are added to round out the whisky. The result is a finely tuned, soft, and subtly sweet whisky from Japan.
