A true natural product

The Benromach 2014/2024 Cask Strength Batch 03 comes practically straight from the casks to your glass. After being distilled in 2014, it was bottled in 2024 completely natural. This means it was bottled at undiluted cask strength, without coloring and without chill filtration. Only First Fill Casks were used for the maturation of the distillate. These are also responsible for the intense color and largely for the flavor.

Not only the explosive 60.6% ABV contribute to a strong character. The Benromach Single Malt impresses with a rich aroma of fruitcake, juicy oranges, and stewed plums. Subtle wood notes, gentle smoke, and dark caramel give it an elegant depth. On the palate, it presents itself to you intensely and multifaceted. Sweet fruit compote meets orange marmalade, accompanied by a mix of black pepper, cinnamon, and mild peat smoke. A piece of history

About 100 years ago, at the beginning of the 20th century, a large part of Scottish whiskies was actually smoky. The reason lies in the production methods and technology available at that time. It was common to dry the malted barley with peat fire. Peat was abundant and a cheap energy source. When burning peat, phenolic substances are produced that transfer to the malt and create the typical smoky flavor. Other fuels like coal or coke were often hard to access or expensive in rural areas. Therefore, peat remained the first choice for many distilleries.
