Aroma: Fruity scent of orange marmalade, citrus fruits, spices, chocolate, and Oloroso sherry.

Taste: Sweet oranges, caramelized walnuts, and seductive dried fruits present themselves soft and mild on the tongue. In between, accents of creamy vanilla.

Finish: Soft with roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla.

The Dalmore 12 years is a highly refined single malt Scotch whisky produced at the distillery of the same name, founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson in the village of Alness in the Scottish Highlands. The bottle is adorned with a decorative stag, a twelve-pointer, which comes from the coat of arms of the MacKenzie family, who owned the distillery from 1886. Their ancestor is said to have saved the English king from an angry stag in 1263, for which he was granted the family crest featuring the stag. The current owner of Dalmore is the United Breweries Group.

The Dalmore 12 years receives a so-called 'sherry finish'. In this variant, the whisky first ages for 9 years in former American white oak barrels that previously contained bourbon, after which 50% of the whisky barrels are transferred for 3 years to former Oloroso sherry casks that were used in sherry production for 30 years. The remaining 50% also continue to age for another 3 years in the original American white oak barrels. After a total of 12 years of aging, the barrels are blended together, resulting in the characteristically balanced fruity and vanilla flavor of Dalmore 12 years. 

The amber-golden The Dalmore 12 yrs. delights the nose with a fine aroma of orange marmalade and complex spicy elements, refined by a hint of citrus and Oloroso sherry, framed by a touch of cinnamon. After some time, one can perceive the fine scent of old leather. On the palate, a distinct sweetness comes to the forefront, reminiscent of a fine bourbon whiskey. Spicy notes are also embedded in the ever-present orange marmalade. In the finish, the Oloroso re-emerges, complemented by a hint of vanilla.

With its interesting character and complex body, the Dalmore 12 years is an extremely fine whisky for special occasions!
