Aerstone 10 Year Old Land Cask

Aroma: Earthy peat smoke and smoked bacon, underlined by sweet vanilla with candied oranges.

Taste: Very pleasant and silky smooth with sweet peat smoke and brown sugar. A hint of licorice and salted caramel mixes with gummy fruit from limes, oranges, and pears. At the back, light oak shows up. 

Finish: The vanilla-sweet peat smoke lingers for a long time and fades with citrus notes and delicate oak.

The Aerstone 10 Year Land Cask is a smoky single malt Scotch whisky from the Scottish Lowlands. This alone makes it an exciting release, as traditionally there is hardly any peated whisky from the Lowlands. Aerstone single malt serves as an easy entry for whisky newcomers into the colorful and now very confusing whisky market. In addition to the smoky Aerstone 10 Year Land Cask, there is also the non-smoky and sweet Aerstone 10 Year Sea Cask. Both represent light single malt whiskies, meaning high-quality malt whiskies from a single distillery. In their price segment, they can boast an age statement of 10 years. The malt for the Aerstone 10 Year Land Cask was dried over Highland peat, giving the finished whisky a nice smoky note. The Aerstone 10 Year Land Cask matured on the Scottish mainland. The smoke pleasantly settles into campfire and smoked bacon, complemented by fine citrus notes. A nice evening whisky that already delivers a beautiful range of aromas for its affordable price. 

The Aerstone brand comes from the house of William Grant & Sons. This Scottish family business is especially known for its renowned single malt distilleries Glenfiddich and Balvenie. As a pioneer in the quality category of single malt whisky, it was William Grant & Sons who first brought their whisky to market as a single malt in the 60s with Glenfiddich. To meet the high demand for their excellent whisky, the company built the Ailsa Bay distillery in 2007. Aerstone is the first widely available product from the Lowland distillery.
