The year 1731 went down in history - rum lovers know why. It was the year when the Royal British Navy decided to offer their sailors rum rations as compensation. For over 200 years, this right was actively used among the sailors. The Tots - as the rations were called - were happily distributed. You can imagine the sorrow when this tradition abruptly ended with a parliamentary decision on July 31, 1970. Many ships held funeral-like ceremonies. The day went down in history as Black Tot Day.
This rum aims to connect with the long tradition and remind us of the honorable days of rum, when it was a faithful companion to sailors on long, rough voyages. Instead of overwhelming sweetness, spicy notes are in focus here, beautifully combined with juicy tropical fruit notes. The 46.2% ABV gives these aromas the necessary intensity to conjure Caribbean delights into your glass.
Wondering where this variety in character comes from? Well, this rum involved products from three different rum nations. 60% comes from Guyana. 40% of that aged between 3 and 5 years, while 20% is unaged. Another 35% of the blend was contributed by Barbados - this portion aged for 5 years. Lastly, another 5% was sourced from Jamaica, where the pure pot still rum aged for 3 years.
