The Amrut Fusion is distilled from 25% peated Scottish and 75% unpeated Indian barley malt. Therefore, you can expect a wide range of aromas from aromatic smoke, malt, caramel, and fruits. On the palate, the 50% ABV is noticeable, but it spreads a pleasantly oily mouthfeel. Alongside distinct smoky notes, there is room for creamy vanilla, milk chocolate, exotic fruits, and hearty malt candies. In the end, slightly dry smoke lingers on the palate with flavors of syrupy molasses, chocolate, coffee, and spices.

The two types of base malt are fermented, distilled, and aged separately, and only blended a few months before bottling. Amrut does not disclose the age of the whisky. However, it can be assumed that the barrels age for about 3 or 4 years in the hot climate of Bangalore. This results in approximately 12% of the barrel contents evaporating each year. Due to the low humidity, more water evaporates here than alcohol. This means that, unlike in Scotland, the alcohol content in the barrel increases over time instead of decreasing. Additionally, the high heat causes a rapid exchange of distillate and barrel, resulting in a 3-4 times faster maturation.
