Aroma: In the foreground, apple and pear. Behind them, pineapple with lemon and lime, followed by Earl Grey tea.
Taste: Warm malt notes on the palate. Subtle ginger sharpness creeps in and culminates in a combination of honey, strawberries, and creamy-vanilla biscuit.
Finish: Medium length. Notes of sweet, ripe pears dominate and leave a cozy warm feeling in the mouth.
Produkto aprašymas
The Orchard House Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is the second limited release from the independent bottler Compass Box this year.
The special thing about this whisky is that it is made from six different malt whiskies from all over Scotland. All are known for their particularly fruity notes. The majority consists of malt whiskies from the Linkwood, Benrinnes, and Clynelish distilleries aged in First-Fill Bourbon Barrels, with smaller portions from Caol Ila. Additionally, there is the influence of a Highland Malt Blend from charred French oak barrels and Oloroso Sherry Butts from a secret distillery near the town of Aberlour.
The most exciting part? For the aging of the blend, specially crafted hybrid casks were used. Here, American and French oak were combined. This results in both fruity and vanilla-caramel and gentle-spicy aromas.
Thus, the Orchard House can fully unfold its aromatic splendor through the combination of Bourbon Barrels, Oloroso Sherry Butts, and its own hybrid casks. Dominant aromas of juicy apples and pears prevail. Additionally, pineapple, lemon, lime, strawberries, and sweet honey play a role. Warm Earl Grey, malt, and ginger notes show how particularly complex this whisky is and perfectly round off the fruity notes with a pleasant light spiciness and sharpness.
