The Monkey 47 is an excellent gin from the Black Forest, whose outstanding quality has spread far beyond German borders. Released in 2010, this complex creation, characterized by no less than 47 handpicked botanicals, has won prestigious awards in various competitions. In the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2011, the southern German gin was awarded 'Gold' and crowned the best drop in the 'Gin Worldwide' category. The World Spirits Awards also honored Monkey 47 with 'Gold' in the same year.

But what actually makes this dry gin what it is? The beauty begins with the surroundings of the distillery. It is located in the midst of the largest contiguous low mountain range in Germany, the Black Forest. The name is no coincidence: In the area of dense, dark green forests, one can truly breathe deeply and experience nature in its diversity. This connection to the landscape is brought into the gin not only with fresh spring water directly from the region but also with the numerous local botanicals. About a third of the flavoring agents come from the idyllic surroundings - such as cranberries or rosehip shells. This lays the foundation for this irresistible gin. Stone is also the keyword when it comes to the storage of the products: The aging in traditional stoneware vessels contributes to the final character. Lastly, the producers have also thought about an appealing design, which should make the enjoyment that the gin brings visible to the outside. Since a bridge between local Black Forest herbs and exotic Indian spices should be drawn in terms of flavors, this connection is also reflected in the bottle design. The label, reminiscent of a colonial-era stamp, features palm trees and jungle on one side and tall firs and a mountain hut on the other, while in the middle, the namesake monkey stands out. The brown apothecary bottle perfectly rounds off the retro look.
